Karisma Kapoor’s Kids’ Fees Controversy: Priya Sachdev Produces ₹95 Lakh Receipt, Debunks Forged Will Allegations

The ongoing legal battle over Sanjay Kapoor’s ₹30,000 crore estate took a new turn as his daughter Samaira Kapoor recently claimed in the Delhi High Court that her university fees had not been paid for two months. The claim pertained to her education at an American university.

However, Priya Sachdev, Sanjay Kapoor’s second wife, along with her legal team, firmly refuted these allegations. They presented a receipt of ₹95 lakh per semester, proving that all dues had been paid. The defense also addressed claims regarding a forged will and signatures, providing detailed evidence to support their stance.

Legal Proceedings in Delhi High Court

During the third day of hearings, Priya Sachdev’s lawyers submitted documentation to counter the claims made by Karishma Kapoor’s daughter. In previous hearings, the court was informed about unpaid fees, and the bench had advised both sides to avoid theatrics. Advocate Shail Trehan produced receipts showing that the fees for each semester were duly paid, with the next installment scheduled for December.

Alleged Forged Will Disputed

Once the fee issue was clarified, the proceedings focused on the authenticity of Sanjay Kapoor’s will. Karishma Kapoor and her children had claimed that the will was forged. The defense presented a detailed timeline showing how the will was drafted, reviewed, and finalized.

  • The initial draft was prepared on Nitin Sharma’s laptop, the lawyer who drafted the document.
  • Screenshots, file history, and metadata were submitted to the court to verify authenticity.
  • Nitin Sharma personally brought his laptop to court for verification.
  • The final draft was completed on 17 March 2025, consistent with travel and location records of Sanjay Kapoor.

Court documents also showed that Sanjay had reviewed the will via a family office WhatsApp group at 5:01 PM on the day of drafting. Every step, from creating the Word file to the signed PDF, was examined, including emails between Sharma and accountant Dinesh Agrawal.

Signatures Verified as Authentic

The defense stressed that claims of forged signatures were false. Karishma Kapoor and her children had previously used the same signatures to receive ₹2,000 crore from the RK Family Trust and had never questioned their authenticity. Witnesses Sharma and Agrawal confirmed under oath that the signatures were genuine.

Registration of Will Not Mandatory

Regarding allegations that the will was suspicious because it was unregistered, the defense clarified that Indian law does not require registration of a will, and probate is not mandatory in Delhi for its validation.

With this submission, Priya Sachdev’s team has strengthened their position in the ongoing inheritance dispute, presenting strong evidence regarding both the university fees and the legitimacy of Sanjay Kapoor’s will.
