Kapil Sharma’s comedy sequel Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is heading to OTT after failing to make an impact at the box office despite two theatrical releases. The film, which starred Kapil Sharma alongside Tridha Choudhury and Parul Gulati, struggled to attract audiences amid stiff competition from big releases like Dhurandhar and Avatar 3. It will now premiere on JioHotstar on February 6, 2026.
Directed by Anukalp Goswami and produced by Abbas-Mustan, the film is a sequel to the 2015 hit Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. Made on a reported budget of ₹35 crore, the sequel earned only ₹12.33 crore net in India, with a worldwide gross collection of ₹16.23 crore. In contrast, the original film, produced on a ₹16 crore budget, had collected nearly ₹50 crore in India and was declared a commercial success.
The makers re-released the film on January 9, two weeks after its original December 12 release, in an attempt to revive its box office fortunes. However, it failed to recover, largely due to mixed word-of-mouth and criticism of its dated script and repetitive humor.
The film revolves around Mohan (Kapil Sharma), who is in love with Saniya (Heera Varina) but faces religious opposition from both families. To win acceptance, Mohan assumes multiple identities — Mahmud and Michael — only to end up married to three women from different faiths: Meera (Tridha Choudhury), Ruhi (Ayesha Khan), and Jenny (Parul Gulati). The plot follows the chaos of his double lives and the comic consequences of juggling three marriages in one city.
The ensemble cast also includes Sushant Singh, Vipin Sharma, and Manjot Singh.
Despite its theatrical disappointment, the film’s OTT release is expected to give it a second life among home audiences. Industry observers say digital streaming and satellite rights may help the producers recover part of their losses.
Kapil Sharma, primarily known as a stand-up comedian and television host, made his lead acting debut with the original Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. His later films include Firangi (2017), which underperformed, and Zwigato (2022), where his performance as a delivery worker received critical praise. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 marks his sixth film as an actor.
