Mumbai: Fans of Rishab Shetty’s blockbuster “Kantara Chapter 1” have reason to rejoice as the Hindi-dubbed version is set to premiere on OTT soon. While the original Kannada film has already streamed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, Hindi-speaking audiences can now also watch it at home.
Box Office Success:
The prequel to the 2022 hit “Kantara”, Kantara Chapter 1, released in theaters on 2 October 2025, has been a massive success. Made on a budget of ₹125 crore, the film collected ₹618.73 crore net domestically and a whopping ₹848.15 crore gross worldwide, surpassing Vicky Kaushal’s “Chhawa” to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.
OTT Release Details:
Although the film was released on Prime Video two weeks ago, the Hindi version was not available initially due to an unspoken 8-week window rule for Hindi OTT releases. Fans had earlier speculated about a second platform for the Hindi version, but Prime Video confirms it will stream exclusively in Hindi on 27 November 2025.
Cast and Plot:
Kantara Chapter 1 is set years before the original and explores the Kadamba dynasty era, focusing on the origins of the Daivakola ritual, its beliefs, and the harsh governance of devotees during that time. Rishab Shetty reprises his role as writer, director, and lead actor, joined by Rukmini Vasant, Jayaram, Gulshan Devaiah, Hariprasanth, Pramod Shetty, Rakesh Pujari, Deepak Rai Panaje, Mime Ramdas, and Naveen D. Padil. The film’s music is composed by Ajneesh Loknath.
Fans can now enjoy this critically acclaimed and visually stunning blockbuster in Hindi on Prime Video from 27 November 2025.
