Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan were once regarded as one of the industry’s most admired couples. While rumors had linked Mexican actress Bárbara Mori to the split, Hrithik’s father, Rakesh Roshan, clarified that the divorce was the result of a misunderstanding, not an affair.

Rakesh Roshan revealed in an interview that Hrithik and Sussanne loved each other deeply, but a misunderstanding arose that they could not resolve. “They had love for each other, but a misunderstanding occurred, which they were unable to sort out. Whatever happened is between them, and they had to work it out themselves. For us, Sussanne has always been a part of our family,” he said.

The announcement of their separation came in December 2013, a week before their 13th wedding anniversary. Hrithik stated at the time, “Sussanne has decided to separate from me and end our relationship. This is a very difficult time for our entire family.” The divorce was finalized on 1 November 2014 in Mumbai Family Court.

Rumors About Bárbara Mori

During the period of their separation, speculation linked Hrithik’s professional work with Bárbara Mori—his co-star in the film Kites—to the couple’s marital troubles. Reports claimed that Hrithik had gifted Bárbara a luxurious vanity van worth around ₹1.5–2 crore and gave her a grand welcome in Bollywood, fueling media gossip about a possible affair. These rumors allegedly led Sussanne to leave the family home temporarily.

Financial Settlement

The divorce was considered one of Bollywood’s most expensive at the time. Sussanne reportedly initially asked for an alimony of ₹400 crore, which was eventually settled at ₹380 crore. Hrithik publicly refuted the notion that this amount reflected any wrongdoing on his part.

Life After Divorce

Today, Hrithik is in a relationship with actress and singer Saba Azad, while Sussanne is dating Arslan Goni. Despite their separation, both couples maintain a cordial relationship, often vacationing together and sharing a friendly bond for the sake of their children.
