Paresh Rawal has finally shared a major update on the long-awaited Hera Pheri 3, addressing the reasons behind its delay. In a recent interview on The Lawari Show, the National Award-winning actor confirmed that the third installment of the beloved franchise will definitely happen, but clarified that the delay is not his responsibility.
Akshay Kumar Behind the Delay
Paresh Rawal revealed that the holdup is due to technical issues between Akshay Kumar and the filmmakers. Addressing rumors about legal troubles affecting the film, he dismissed claims that Akshay had filed a ₹25 crore lawsuit against him as exaggerated. Rawal explained, “All this talk about Akshay Kumar suing me for ₹25 crore is blown out of proportion—it’s like a raw incense stick, just smoke without substance.” He further stated that once the matter between the producer and Akshay Kumar is resolved, he is ready to sign on for the film immediately.
Paresh Rawal on His Iconic Role
Speaking about reprising his iconic role as Babu Rao, Paresh Rawal emphasized that Hera Pheri 3 cannot work without him. He told Pinkvilla, “Humbly, if they try to make Hera Pheri without Babu Rao, it will be a disaster. Once the matter between both parties is resolved, I will sign the papers. It is 100% going to happen.”
The Legacy of Hera Pheri
For those unfamiliar, the first Hera Pheri (2000) was a huge hit, based on the Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking (1989), and remains one of India’s most beloved comedy films. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), also achieved massive success. While details about Hera Pheri 3 are still under wraps, fans are eagerly waiting to see the classic trio—Raju, Shyam, and Babu Rao—together on the big screen once again.
