Hema Malini Opens Up About Sunny-Bobby’s Separate Prayer Ceremony, Shares Memories of Dharmendra

Legendary actress Hema Malini has shared her first in-depth interview since the passing of her husband, veteran actor Dharmendra, on 24 November 2025. In an emotional conversation, she discussed everything—from family rituals and prayer ceremonies to the upcoming museum in Dharmendra’s honor.

Reflecting on 2025
For Hema Malini, 2025 was an intensely emotional year. Losing her life partner brought an irreplaceable void. Speaking to ETimes, she said,
“Our bond stood the test of time. Losing him was unbearable. During his illness, we struggled through the month at the hospital, hoping he would recover as he had many times before.”

She recounted the moments leading up to his passing, including celebrating her birthday on 16 October, Dharmendra’s 90th birthday on 8 December, and their time together at home.
“Seeing him in that state was very difficult. No one should have to go through this,” she added.

Lonavala Farm Memories
Hema fondly remembered Dharmendra’s Lonavala farmhouse, describing it as “like a small Punjab.” She said,
“He used to bring ghee from the farm for us—one for Esha, one for Ahana, and one for me. He spent time there whenever I was away for work. Those were beautiful moments with our grandchildren.”

Separate Prayer Ceremonies Explained
Questions arose online regarding Sunny and Bobby Deol holding a separate prayer ceremony without Hema and her daughters. Addressing the issue, she clarified,
“This was a private family matter. We discussed among ourselves. I held a prayer ceremony at home for my close circle. Then, I held another in Delhi for my friends in my political constituency. I am satisfied with what I did.”

Dharmendra Museum Plans
Regarding turning Dharmendra’s famed Lonavala farmhouse into a museum for fans, Hema Malini said,
“I believe Sunny is planning something along those lines. Everything is being handled well. There’s no need to worry—both families are perfectly fine.”
