Govinda Responds Strongly to Son Support and Affair Allegations: “I Left Politics for My Children”

Actor Govinda has responded to allegations made by his wife Sunita Ahuja regarding his support for their son Yashvardhan and claims of an alleged affair. Govinda expressed that it is disheartening when such accusations come from one’s own family.

Sunita’s Allegations and Govinda’s Response
Sunita had alleged that Govinda never helped Yashvardhan in building his career and claimed that their son achieved success on his own. She also advised Yash not to follow in his father’s footsteps. Responding to these claims in an interview with news agency ANI, Govinda said that he had prioritized family over politics and had even asked producer Nadiadwala to guide and assist his son in the film industry.

“When I decided to step away from politics, my aim was to avoid any rivalry, envy, or negativity that could cause trouble—especially for my children. I left politics for my family,” Govinda said. He added that he had requested Nadiadwala to provide Yash with guidance, including how films are made and the workings of the industry.

Govinda on Supporting Young Talent
Govinda emphasized that he prays for the ability to support his children and feels disappointed when those in his own household doubt him. “I have introduced 18 new directors, 19–20 producers, and over a dozen artists. When God gave me the opportunity, I served wholeheartedly. I will not engage in debates over this matter as it would make me feel disrespected,” he said.

Addressing Set Timeliness and Professionalism Claims
On accusations from actors and filmmakers that he used to arrive late on sets, Govinda clarified, “No one has tried to prove this. If it were true, it would have affected me personally. I believe that no one else should interfere in these matters, and I never hinder anyone’s work.”

He also expressed confidence in Yashvardhan’s abilities, saying, “I believe Yash will become a better actor than me. If presented well, he has the potential to achieve great success.”

Responding to Alleged Affair Claims
Regarding allegations of an affair, Govinda stated, “When such rumors arose in my early years, my hands used to tremble even at the thought of touching a girl. Those early experiences were mishandled childhood affections. Any claims now are merely misconceptions about my current life. I have never misbehaved with actresses. I respect every artist I have worked with, and many of them began their careers under my guidance.”

He added, “My mother always told me that if you consider only your family and ignore the world, someday it may betray you. I value the respect and support of people who have loved my work for years. Any actress who enters my home or works with me is always welcome and respected, because who I am today is because of them.”
