Google Reveals India’s Top 10 Most Searched Movies of 2025: One Film from 2016 Makes the List

As 2025 nears its end, Google has released the Top 10 Most Searched Movies in India for the year. From Bollywood to South Indian cinema and Hollywood, several films captured audiences’ attention, but only a few dominated online searches. Surprisingly, the list even features a film originally released in 2016.

1. Saiyara
Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyara led 2025 searches in India. This musical romantic film, starring Ahan Pandey and Anit Padda, reignited the love for cinematic romance. Made on a budget of ₹45 crore, it grossed ₹329.73 crore net domestically and ₹570.33 crore worldwide. Apart from its box office success, Saiyara’s music and lead actors became a hot topic online, dominating search trends.

2. Kantara Chapter 1
Rishabh Shetty’s prequel to Kantara, exploring the Kadamba dynasty and Daivakola history, secured the second spot. The film, featuring Rukmini Vasant and Gulshan Devaiah, collected ₹622.21 crore net in India and ₹852.08 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

3. Kuli
Starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan, Kuli attracted massive search interest thanks to its star power and nostalgic appeal for fans. Despite a budget of ₹350 crore, it earned ₹285.01 crore net domestically, with cameo appearances from Aamir Khan and Upendra, and a notable negative role by Saubin Shahir generating buzz.

4. War 2
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 was highly anticipated due to the casting of Hrithik Roshan alongside NTR Jr. as part of the YRF Spy Universe. However, the spy-action film underperformed, earning only ₹236.55 crore net in India despite its ₹350–400 crore budget.

5. Sanam Teri Kasam
Interestingly, this romantic film originally released in 2016 made the list due to its re-release on Valentine’s Day 2025. Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, it grossed around ₹40 crore during the re-release, sparking renewed interest among Gen Z audiences.
