
A major fire broke out at the apartment of filmmaker Sandeep Singh in Mumbai’s Andheri West on Thursday, 25th December, prompting a swift rescue operation. The blaze engulfed the 12th, 13th, and 14th floors of the Sorento Apartment Complex, where Singh’s home is located on the 14th floor. Fortunately, he was safely evacuated and taken to the home of actors Ankita Lokhande and Vicky Jain.
The fire caused dense smoke that spread to the upper floors, trapping several residents. Mumbai Fire Brigade officials reported that around 40 people were rescued safely via staircases, with no casualties. Emergency teams quickly brought the situation under control, ensuring the safety of all residents.
Singh, a renowned producer and director, is known for films such as Mary Kom, Sarbjit, Aligarh, Jhund, Swatantriya Veer Savarkar, Safed, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He had recently returned home from Kokilaben Hospital after a hernia surgery when the incident occurred. Images of him safely exiting the building are circulating online, bringing relief to fans and friends alike.
Starting his career in journalism, Singh later became part of Bhansali Productions before establishing his own company, Legend Studios. His films have been acclaimed for strong performances, social impact, and historical sensitivity. Mary Kom captivated audiences with Priyanka Chopra’s stellar acting, while Sarbjit and Aligarh addressed important societal issues. Films like Jhund and Swatantriya Veer Savarkar reflect his dedication and respect for history.
The incident, though alarming, ended safely, reinforcing Singh’s resilience and the support of his friends and colleagues in the film industry.
