Veteran actress Farida Jalal, who has shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in iconic films such as Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, has shared her honest and measured opinion on his son Aryan Khan’s debut web series, The Bads of Bollywood. Aryan marked his entry into the entertainment industry as a director with the Netflix show, and Jalal’s remarks have since sparked discussion.
In an interview with Zoom, Farida Jalal was asked whether she had watched The Bads of Bollywood and what she thought of the series. Responding with characteristic candour, the 77-year-old actress first welcomed Aryan Khan to the world of cinema and praised his effort. “He is home. Where else would he go?” she said warmly, offering her blessings and support to the young filmmaker.
However, when it came to her assessment of the show itself, Jalal did not shy away from constructive criticism. “I watched it. It was fine—decent. He could have made it better, but it was good,” she remarked. Her statement struck a balance between encouragement and honest feedback, reflecting her years of experience in the industry.
The Bads of Bollywood, which premiered on Netflix on September 18, 2025, features an ensemble cast including Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bambba, Bobby Deol, and Mona Singh. Since its release, the series has received mixed reactions, with audiences appreciating its concept while also debating its execution. Fans are now eagerly awaiting an announcement regarding a second season.
On the professional front, Farida Jalal continues to remain active even at 77. She was last seen in The Great Shamsuddin Family, written and directed by Anusha Rizvi, which premiered on JioHotstar on December 12, 2025. The film featured Kritika Kamra, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Sheeba Chaddha, and Purab Kohli in key roles.
Jalal is now set to return to the big screen in O Romeo, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in lead roles. The film is slated for a theatrical release on February 13, 2026.
Her thoughtful comments on Aryan Khan’s debut underline a broader industry sentiment—encouragement for new talent, paired with the expectation of growth and refinement that comes with experience.
