Renowned director, choreographer, and YouTuber Farah Khan, known for delivering several iconic films in Hindi cinema, recently spoke about her 2010 film Tees Maar Khan during a cooking vlog at Ranveer Allahbadia’s home. She revealed that the film’s release had subjected her to considerable criticism, and she still regrets certain decisions she made during its making.
During the conversation, Ranveer asked Farah if she plans to make more films, to which she responded affirmatively. He then mentioned that while he is a fan of many of her films, he particularly enjoys Tees Maar Khan. Laughing, Farah remarked, “I’m a little scared about what you learned from that movie,” adding that Ranveer had viewed the film from a Gen Z perspective.
Recalling the film’s release, Farah said, “Yes, I faced a lot of embarrassment when it came out. You must have been very young at that time. Even now, when I think about the movie, I wonder how I could have made such a big mistake. I found the film very funny, but today I realize, well, okay—it’s part of the journey.”
Farah also shared that the film gained renewed attention when Akshay Kumar returned to prominence, with clips from his ‘Aatish’ song going viral. She recalled the support she received from friends and colleagues during the film’s initial backlash: John Abraham, Sonu Nigam, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, and Yuzvendra Chahal all reached out to encourage her.
Tees Maar Khan, made on a budget of ₹25 crore, went on to earn ₹60.96 crore net and ₹82.29 crore gross domestically, and ₹100.01 crore worldwide, including ₹17.72 crore from overseas markets. Starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, and Akshaye Khanna in pivotal roles, the film was ultimately a commercial success despite initial criticism. It was released on 24 December 2010.
Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, who hosted the vlog, has previously been in the news for a controversial comment on India’s Got Talent which led to an FIR and a Supreme Court case, from which he received interim relief on 18 February 2025.
