Mumbai: Recent images and videos claiming to show actor Dhanush and actress Mrunal Thakur tying the knot have gone viral online, with several South Indian celebrities reportedly present to bless the couple. However, these reports are completely false.
The viral content shows Mrunal in a traditional South Indian bridal look alongside Dhanush, with names like Trisha, Shruti Haasan, Anirudh Ravichander, Ajith Kumar, Dulquer Salmaan, and Thalapathy Vijay appearing in the background. Social media users were quick to react, with many pointing out inconsistencies. One noted that “Ajith Kumar is currently in Dubai,” while others praised the realistic editing, with comments such as, “Great use of AI” and “Even Dhanush would be shocked.”
Mrunal Thakur’s close sources clarified to Hindustan Times that the actress is not getting married. The images and videos circulating are AI-generated and entirely fabricated.
On the work front, Mrunal has a busy 2026 ahead, with films like Do Deewane Sahar Mein, Dakait: A Love Story, Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai, and Pooja Meri Jaan slated for release in February and March. Dhanush will be seen in the upcoming movie Kara.
This incident highlights the growing influence of AI-generated content in the entertainment space, urging fans to verify news before believing viral posts.
