Social media was abuzz after actress Jiya Shankar and internet star Elvish Yadav posted pictures holding hands and wearing rings, sparking rumors that the pair had gotten engaged. However, the truth has now emerged: the couple’s display was a promotional strategy for their new Gen-Z reality show.

Jiya Shankar has recently been in the spotlight due to various dating speculations. Earlier, rumors linked her to Abhishek Malhan, and a mysterious photo with another man fueled further gossip. The latest buzz began when Elvish Yadav shared a photo holding Jiya’s hand, featuring a diamond ring and tagging her. The caption, “Gave love another chance, and got my heart back,” only added to the engagement speculation.

Sources close to the celebrities have confirmed that no engagement has taken place, and the pair are not dating. They are reportedly working together on the second season of the dating reality series Engaged: Roka or Dhoka, and the rings were part of the promotional campaign.

About the Show: Engaged: Roka or Dhoka
The first season of Engaged: Roka or Dhoka premiered in 2025 and focused on Gen-Z contestants testing their compatibility and navigating “situationships” toward serious relationships. Season one was hosted by Harsh Gujral and Urfi Javed, with winners Sifat Sehgal and Karan Raj. Jiya and Elvish are featured in the second season, which continues the show’s concept of blending entertainment with real-life dating challenges.

Jiya and Elvish’s Professional Journey
This marks the second time Jiya and Elvish are working together. They previously participated in Bigg Boss OTT Season 2, where they developed a strong friendship. Jiya has appeared in several music videos following her hit Marathi film Ved, while Elvish Yadav, a social media star and former Bigg Boss OTT winner, is currently part of Laughter Chefs Season 3 alongside Karan Kundra.

The “engagement” stunt demonstrates the increasing trend of celebrities using social media to creatively promote shows while keeping fans guessing about their personal lives.
