The anticipation for ‘Drishyam 3’ is building as director Jeethu Joseph reveals new hints about the third installment of the hit crime-thriller franchise. The Mohanlal-starrer, originally in Malayalam, will also release in Hindi, promising to reach a wider audience across India.
The ‘Drishyam’ franchise has already won hearts with its gripping storytelling and clever twists. Jeethu Joseph, the mastermind behind the Mohanlal-led series, has confirmed that the upcoming chapter will continue the saga of Georgekutty and his family, but with a storyline that carves its own unique path.
Focus on Georgekutty and His Family
Speaking to Indian Express, Joseph said, “My focus is entirely on Georgekutty and his family. ‘Drishyam 3’ will explore what could realistically happen in their lives six or seven years after the events of Part 2. I am deliberately not trying to force a story to be better than Part 2; the narrative will evolve organically.”
The director added that the family’s characters have grown and changed over time. “When the incident happened, Anu was just a child. Now she has grown up. Some basic traits of Georgekutty are retained because they are essential for his character, and the same applies to his wife Rani, Anju, and Anu. The children’s characters are evolving naturally.”
Suspicion Looms Around Georgekutty
Jeethu Joseph also revealed that the neighborhood’s perception of Georgekutty and his family is shifting. “In the first film, people around him believed he was innocent. By Part 2, some had begun to suspect that things were not as they seemed. I am taking the same organic approach in Part 3. The story will develop naturally, not forced by the success of Part 2.”
A Distinct Storyline
Jeethu Joseph emphasized that ‘Drishyam 3’ will have a story different from the previous films. “Just as Part 2 was distinct from the first film, Part 3 will chart its own course. It is grounded in what could realistically happen in Georgekutty’s family and their lives.”
The film stars Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil, and is already creating buzz among fans eagerly awaiting its release.
