
Bollywood’s celebrated playback singer Arijit Singh has announced his retirement from the industry, leaving fans and colleagues surprised. He had recently lent his voice to songs in Gadar 2, one of the biggest films of recent times. Following his announcement, veteran filmmaker Anil Sharma has made a heartfelt appeal, urging Singh to reconsider and return after some rest, emphasizing the public’s need for his music.
Anil Sharma’s Emotional Appeal
Director Anil Sharma took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his request. Sharing video clips of Arijit Singh’s hits like Tera Fitoor from Genius (2018) and Dil Jhoom from Gadar 2 (2023), Sharma wrote, “Arijit, a true genius… you’ve sung the most beautiful songs for us, for my films… whether it’s Tera Fitoor from Genius or Dil Jhoom from Gadar 2.”
He continued, “The industry, and more importantly, the audience, still need your songs. I hope you return soon… because singing is a singer’s true joy in life. Take a little rest, but know that we all eagerly await your comeback.”
Arijit Singh Bids Farewell to Playback Singing
Earlier, Arijit Singh shared on Instagram, “Hello, wishing you all a very happy New Year. Thank you for your love and support over all these years. I am happy to announce that I will no longer take up new assignments as a playback vocalist. I am bidding farewell to this profession. It has been an amazing journey.”
Anil Sharma’s Upcoming Projects
According to media reports, Anil Sharma is working on the third installment of the Gadar franchise, with Sunny Deol and his son Utkarsh Sharma expected to return. He is also reportedly developing a film titled Coal King, which may feature Sunny Deol in the lead role. Further details are yet to be revealed.
