‘Dhurandhar’ Sells 40 Million Tickets in 59 Days, Beats Aamir, Shah Rukh, and Sunny Deol, Breaks Records of 15 Films

Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurandhar’ has created yet another milestone at the box office, surpassing 15 films to set a new record. The film registered a staggering 40 million footfalls, making it the highest for any Indian film.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, this marks his second film, and it continues to make waves at the box office. Made on a budget of ₹250 crore, the film released exclusively in Hindi and has already achieved record-breaking collections. On February 3, the teaser of its sequel, ‘Dhurandhar 2’, was released, generating immense excitement among fans. Meanwhile, the first part has now crossed 4 crore viewers in just 59 days, equivalent to 40 million people watching the film in theatres, cementing its place among the Indian cinema records. The film is now also streaming on the OTT platform Netflix.

Box Office Performance:
Released on 5 December 2025, ‘Dhurandhar’ collected ₹28 crore on its opening day and continued to earn double-digit collections for 30 consecutive days. It became the only single-language film to achieve the highest gross without a pan-India release. In 59 days, it has amassed ₹1,303 crore worldwide, including ₹299 crore from overseas and ₹1,004 crore from India. Its net collection in India stands at ₹836.95 crore.

Footfalls & Records:
According to trade insiders, 4 crore people in India have watched ‘Dhurandhar,’ recording 40 million footfalls — the first film in 24 years to achieve this feat. Previously, Sunny Deol’s 2001 film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ had recorded 5 crore footfalls.

Records It Couldn’t Break:
While ‘Dhurandhar’ entered the list of 19 Indian films with over 4 crore viewers, it couldn’t surpass the top 4 films in ticket sales — ‘Sholay,’ ‘Baahubali 2,’ ‘Mughal-e-Azam,’ and ‘Mother India,’ each of which sold 10 crore tickets. However, it outperformed several other major films.
