Actress Saumya Tandon, known for her role as Ulfat, wife of Rahman Daku (played by Akshay Khanna) in the film Dhurandhar and for Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain!, encountered unexpected difficulties while trying to vote in the BMC elections 2026 in Mumbai on 15 January. Despite verifying her details online, she could not find her name on the voter lists at multiple polling booths, forcing her to roam between locations.
Speaking to ANI, Saumya explained that she had checked her assigned polling station online and followed all instructions, yet confusion arose when she arrived. “I was sent to a different booth even though my digital details were already verified,” she said.
Conflicting Information Online
Saumya added, “I took a screenshot of my online voter details, but when I arrived, officials kept directing me elsewhere, claiming my online location pointed to a different booth.”
She continued, “Initially, I was told to go to one place, and later online it said I should go to Dalmia College. I still don’t understand why there is such confusion. Even after checking online, the information at the polling station was inconsistent.”
Skipping Work to Exercise Her Right
The actress clarified that she skipped her shooting schedule to vote. “I want to exercise my right to vote—it’s my duty as a citizen. That’s why I didn’t go for shooting today. Now, I just hope my name is finally on the list,” she said.
Saumya’s experience highlights ongoing issues with voter list discrepancies, even for citizens who have verified their details digitally, raising questions about the efficiency of polling administration during the Mumbai civic elections.
