Director Aditya Dhar has received a major setback ahead of the release of ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has officially blacklisted his production company, B62 Productions, and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh for violating legal undertakings during the film’s shoot in Mumbai.
Shooting Violations and Complaint
According to reports, the issues arose during the shooting of the film, scheduled for a pan-India release on 19 March 2026. Despite repeated warnings, the production team reportedly used fire torches on set against prior undertakings. A local citizen had lodged a complaint regarding the use of fire torches, prompting BMC authorities to intervene. Mumbai Police subsequently seized five fire torches from the shooting location.
Blacklisting and Security Deposit Forfeiture
Following the incident, the A-Ward maintenance staff submitted a proposal to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Zone 1) recommending strict action. This included:
- Forfeiture of the ₹25,000 security deposit submitted via the online permission platform.
- Blacklisting of B62 Productions, along with applicants Komal Pokhriyal and Nasir Khan, who had signed the undertaking to avoid fire usage on set.
- A fine of ₹1 lakh for violating the legal undertaking.
The proposal also stated that B62 Productions will be barred from applying for Maharashtra Film City online facilities in the future until compliance is ensured.
Background and Film Release
The announcement comes just weeks before the sequel to the blockbuster ‘Dhurandhar’, which had grossed ₹1,305 crore worldwide in 70 days following its December release. The upcoming film ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ is slated for release on 19 March 2026 and stars Ranveer Singh.
This move by BMC underscores the civic body’s strict enforcement of safety regulations during film shoots in Mumbai, particularly those involving fire or pyrotechnics, even for high-profile productions.
