Dhurandhar 2 Scores Record OTT Deal; Ranveer Singh’s Franchise Breaks Pre-Release Record

Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster franchise Dhurandhar is making waves even before the release of its second installment. Reports indicate that the OTT rights for Dhurandhar 2 have been sold in a record-breaking deal, highlighting the immense confidence in the film’s success.

After shattering box office records, Dhurandhar made its digital debut on Netflix on 30 January 2026. Following the massive success of the first film, makers have now sold the digital rights for the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, to Jio Hotstar for a staggering ₹150 crore. For context, the digital rights of the first part were sold for ₹85 crore, making this new deal nearly double the previous valuation.

According to industry sources, Netflix had initially considered buying the digital rights for both parts together for ₹175 crore. However, Jio Studios opted to wait for the release of the first film before finalizing the deal for the sequel, confident that audience demand would justify the record-breaking price.

This ₹150 crore deal for Dhurandhar 2 is reportedly among the largest digital transactions undertaken by Jio Studios in recent years. The film’s blockbuster success at the box office, along with high audience anticipation, compelled OTT platforms to invest heavily in securing the rights.

‘Dhurandhar 2’ Gets ‘A’ Certificate
The teaser for the sequel, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has already been approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an ‘A’ rating. Running just over one minute, the teaser sets the tone for the next action-packed chapter of this espionage franchise. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 19 March 2026.

Storyline: Espionage Meets Action
The original Dhurandhar, released on 5 December 2025, emerged as one of the biggest Hindi box office blockbusters of the year. Starring Ranveer Singh alongside Akshay Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan, the espionage-thriller follows an Indian intelligence agent infiltrating criminal networks and terrorist operations in Karachi to neutralize threats targeting India.
