A poster reveal for ‘Ek Din’, the upcoming film starring Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan and South superstar Sai Pallavi, has sparked controversy online. The film, produced under Aamir Khan Productions, is reportedly a remake of a Thai movie, which has drawn criticism from users who claim that the poster and title closely copy the original film.
The poster was unveiled on 15 January 2026, shortly after which social media users began expressing outrage. Many accused the makers of replicating the original poster and simply translating the title from the Thai movie. Some even dubbed Aamir Khan the “King of Remakes.”
One Reddit user wrote, “It’s a Thai film remake. They have used the original movie poster and lifted the title through translation.”
User Reactions
Comments on the poster ranged from amusement to sharp criticism. One user wrote, “The king of remakes, Aamir sir, is back!” Another commented, “Now I remember, I thought this looked like a poster from an old film.” Others asked, “Why not do something different instead of copying the original?”
Release Date and Crew
The makers announced that ‘Ek Din’ will release nationwide on 1 May 2026. The film is directed by Sunil Pandey, with the story penned by Sneha Desai and Spandan Mishra. Producers include Mansoor Khan, Aamir Khan, and Aparna Purohit, and Junaid Khan is also serving as an assistant producer.
Original Title and Remake Details
Originally, the film was set to release in November 2025 under the title ‘Mere Raho’, but the release was postponed. It is now officially recognized as a remake of the 2016 Thai film ‘One Day’.
