Box Office Update: ‘De De Pyar De 2’ Outshines ‘Param Sundari’ on Day 8, ‘Haq’ Fails to Impress

Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh’s De De Pyar De 2 continues to hold strong at the box office, showing resilience even with new releases like 120 Bahadur and Masti 4 reducing its screen count. Despite a slight dip in earnings, the romantic comedy has managed to entertain audiences and surpass the lifetime collections of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s Param Sundari within its first eight days. Meanwhile, Imran Hashmi and Yami Gautam’s courtroom drama Haq has struggled to make a mark.

Box Office Numbers: Day 8 and Beyond
According to Sacnilk, De De Pyar De 2 earned ₹2.25 crore on its second Friday, following Thursday’s ₹3.35 crore. In eight days, the film has amassed a domestic net collection of ₹53.35 crore and a worldwide gross of ₹81.00 crore.

The film, directed by Anshul Sharma, faced stiff competition from 120 Bahadur and Masti 4, which impacted its show count. Yet, it continues to draw audiences with its humor and charm. However, with a budget of ₹135 crore, the film has so far recovered only around 40% of its production cost.

Haq Struggles to Gain Momentum
On the other hand, Haq, directed by Suparn Verma, remains underwhelming. The film earned a mere ₹15 lakh on its 15th day, bringing its domestic net collection to ₹18.55 crore and worldwide gross to ₹27.52 crore against a budget of ₹50 crore. Despite critical acclaim, the courtroom drama failed to resonate commercially.

Competition on Friday
Friday saw De De Pyar De 2 filling approximately 15.12% of its seats, outperforming the new releases. 120 Bahadur and Masti 4, despite being opening day shows, managed only 8-9% occupancy. Farhan Akhtar’s war drama earned ₹2.35 crore, while Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani’s adult comedy collected ₹2.75 crore.

Achievement: Surpassing ‘Param Sundari’
One notable milestone for De De Pyar De 2 is overtaking the lifetime collection of Param Sundari, which earned ₹51.31 crore. Among this year’s romantic releases, the film now ranks just behind Metro In Dinon (₹53.37 crore) and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari (₹61.85 crore).

Despite strong competition, De De Pyar De 2 continues to assert its dominance, proving that star power combined with engaging content can still drive audiences to theaters.
