Box Office: ‘The Raja Saab’ Stumbles on Day 5; ‘Avatar 3’ and ‘Ikkees’ Falter in India

Prabhas’ The Raja Saab is facing a rough ride at the box office. Even on its fifth day, the film’s collections continue to drop, despite the absence of Thalapathy Vijay’s Jan Nayakan, which could have posed stiff competition. Meanwhile, Avatar 3 and Ikkees are also seeing a slowdown in India.

Prabhas’ Film Takes a Hit

The Raja Saab initially crossed the ₹100 crore mark over its opening weekend, thanks to fan support and paid previews. However, the momentum quickly faded. On Tuesday, the horror-comedy struggled to even reach ₹5 crore on its fifth day. The absence of Jan Nayakan, which releases on January 9, may have spared the film from a worse fate. Meanwhile, older films like Dhurandhar (40 days old), Avatar: Fire and Ash (26 days old), and Ikkees (13 days old) continue to hold their ground in theaters.

Directed by Maruti, The Raja Saab faced negative reviews from both critics and fans, and expectations were shattered immediately after release. Monday’s collections confirmed the slump, with the film performing poorly in the “First Monday Test.” Starring Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhi Agarwal, the film had a budget of ₹300 crore. Despite being released in five languages, it has recovered only 39.82% of its production cost in five days.

Day 5 Box Office Collections

According to Sacnilk, The Raja Saab earned just ₹4.88 crore across five languages on Tuesday, down from ₹6.60 crore on Monday. The opening day Friday had brought in ₹53.75 crore, which dropped sharply to ₹26 crore on Saturday and further fell to ₹19.10 crore on Sunday, despite the holiday. Telugu screenings on Tuesday were largely empty, with 80 out of 100 seats vacant on average.

Language-Wise Collections in 5 Days

  • Telugu: ₹99.32 crore
  • Hindi: ₹18.70 crore
  • Tamil: ₹1.01 crore
  • Kannada: ₹0.26 crore
  • Malayalam: ₹0.19 crore

Worldwide Collections

The film has also struggled overseas, grossing only ₹32.70 crore in five days. Combining domestic and international earnings, The Raja Saab has amassed a worldwide total of ₹175.35 crore. With Border 2 set to release on January 23, the film has just nine days to make a significant impact.

‘Avatar 3’ and *Ikkees’ Performance

James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash has slowed in India, though globally it has already crossed ₹11,500 crore in just 26 days. The film’s total net collection in India is now ₹185.28 crore, including ₹31 lakh earned on its 26th day.

Dharmendra’s final film, Ikkees, received critical acclaim but failed to make a significant dent at the box office. Starring Agastya Nanda, Jaidip Ahlawat, and Simar Bhatia, the war drama has collected ₹29.60 crore net in 13 days. On Tuesday, it earned only ₹40 lakh, bringing its worldwide gross to ₹39 crore.
