The box office witnessed a sharp dip this Friday as three major releases — ‘120 Bahadur’, ‘Masti 4’, and the previously steady ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ — struggled to maintain momentum. Farhan Akhtar’s war drama, despite being declared tax-free in Delhi, recorded its lowest earnings yet. Meanwhile, the comedy sequel ‘Masti 4’ also failed to pick up, and Ajay Devgn’s romantic drama slowed down after a promising run.
‘120 Bahadur’: Real Heroes, Real Struggle at the Box Office
Based on a true incident, ‘120 Bahadur’ recounts the heroic stand of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and the 120 brave soldiers of Charlie Company during the 1962 Indo-China War at Rezang La. Fighting in temperatures below –30°C with scarce oxygen, these soldiers halted enemy forces with sheer grit — leaving behind an unforgettable legacy of sacrifice.
Despite its powerful storyline and a production budget of ₹135 crore, the film’s collections dipped sharply on Day 8.
According to Sacnilk, the film earned only ₹40 lakh on Friday — its lowest so far.
- India total: ₹15.4 crore
- Worldwide: Over ₹20 crore to date
‘Masti 4’: Laughter Falls Flat as Competition Rises
Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth installment of the popular adult-comedy franchise follows three bored husbands — played by Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani — seeking excitement outside their monotonous lives. Their wives, each quirky and demanding in her own way, push them into a chaos-filled misadventure.
Made on a budget of ₹40 crore, the film earned only ₹22 lakh on Friday, taking its:
- India total: ₹14.07 crore
Among the ongoing releases, ‘Masti 4’ seems to be the most affected by this week’s new films — ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ and ‘Gustakh Ishq’ — which have clearly diverted audience attention.
‘De De Pyaar De 2’: Consistent Performer Slows Down
Directed by Anshul Sharma, this Ajay Devgn–Rakul Preet Singh starrer has been a decent entertainer at the box office so far. The story revolves around a 52-year-old London-based NRI investor (Devgn) who falls in love with a 27-year-old woman (Rakul). Chaos erupts when her father discovers the truth, giving the film its humour and dramatic twists.
On Friday, the film collected ₹85 lakh, bringing its cumulative totals to:
- India total: ₹68.35 crore
- 14-day worldwide total: ₹103.50 crore
The film is expected to cross the ₹104 crore mark by the end of Day 15.
