
The romantic drama ‘Tere Ishq Mein’, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, continued its impressive run at the box office on Tuesday, its fifth day, overcoming Monday’s slight slump. While Monday had seen a -53.95% drop in earnings, Tuesday witnessed a 17.14% growth, fueled by audience enthusiasm for the tale of unrequited love.
Directed by Aanand L. Rai, ‘Tere Ishq Mein’ is the spiritual sequel to the 2013 hit ‘Raanjhanaa’. The film, made on a budget of ₹95 crore, had already surpassed the lifetime earnings of its predecessor within just four days. After five days, the film’s worldwide gross stands close to ₹100 crore, although domestically it remains ₹24 crore short of recovering its production cost.
According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹10.25 crore on Tuesday, with ₹9.75 crore from Hindi screenings and ₹0.50 crore from the Tamil version. Its total domestic net collection in five days is ₹71.00 crore, comprising ₹67.75 crore from Hindi and ₹3.25 crore from Tamil screenings. The film’s strong performance is attributed to single-screen theaters in smaller towns, as well as solid attendance in mass circuits like Delhi-NCR and Maharashtra. On Tuesday, 24.93% of seats were occupied nationwide. Overseas, the film earned ₹8 crore in five days, bringing the total worldwide gross to ₹92.50 crore, with hopes of crossing ₹100 crore soon.
Competitors Struggle
In contrast, other releases failed to make an impact:
- ‘Gustakh Ishq’, starring Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh, has been a disappointment. In five days, the romantic drama grossed only ₹1.50 crore, including ₹13 lakh on Tuesday.
- ‘120 Bahadur’, a war drama by Farhan Akhtar, continues to underperform. On its 12th day, it earned ₹35 lakh, with a total domestic net collection of ₹17.50 crore and worldwide gross of ₹23.50 crore against a budget of ₹90 crore.
- ‘Mastiii 4’, directed by Milap Zaveri, despite being part of a successful franchise, has flopped. The film, made on a ₹50 crore budget, has garnered ₹14.81 crore domestically and ₹19.50 crore worldwide in 12 days, with just ₹14 lakh on Tuesday.
- ‘De De Pyaar De 2’, starring Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh, fared slightly better. On its 19th day, it earned ₹50 lakh, bringing its domestic total to ₹72 crore and worldwide gross to ₹109.10 crore. However, it still lags behind its ₹135 crore budget.
