Box Office Report: ‘Border 2’ Hits Screens, ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘The Raja Saab’ Take a Big Hit

The box office saw a major shake-up on January 23 as Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar and Prabhas’ The Raja Saab struggled to maintain their earnings following the release of Sunny Deol’s Border 2. Both films experienced a significant slowdown in collections. Here’s a look at how much they earned on Friday.

Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh and Akshay Khanna, has been running in theaters for 50 days. Despite its long run, the film witnessed a sharp drop in earnings on January 23—the first time since its release. The movie, which had opened with a strong 28 crore, has now crossed a net collection of ₹831.05 crore in India and a gross of ₹997 crore. With the upcoming long weekend and the Republic Day holiday, industry insiders expect the film to cross the ₹1,000 crore mark.

Released on December 5, Dhurandhar earned ₹13.9 crore in its 7th week, with 49th-day earnings of ₹1.1 crore. During the 6th week, it had collected ₹26.35 crore, nearly double compared to the 7th week. On its 50th day, the film managed only ₹55 lakh in net collections, marking its lowest earning yet, largely due to a reduction in showings by 90%.

Weekly Net Collections of Dhurandhar:

  • Week 1: ₹207 crore
  • Week 2: ₹252.25 crore
  • Week 3: ₹172 crore
  • Week 4: ₹106.5 crore
  • Week 5: ₹51 crore
  • Week 6: ₹26.35 crore
  • Week 7: ₹13.9 crore

Meanwhile, Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, released 15 days ago, is also struggling to make an impact, with total earnings still below ₹150 crore. On its 15th day (third Friday), the film earned only ₹22 lakh, down from ₹61 lakh on the previous day. The release of Border 2, which is screening across 4,800 screens with 17,000 shows nationwide, has clearly affected its box office performance.
