Box Office: ‘Border 2’ Earns More Than Half of ‘Baahubali’ in Just 11 Days, Becomes Sunny Deol’s Second Highest-Grossing Film

Nearly 28 years after the phenomenal success of Border, its sequel Border 2 hit theaters in 2026 and has already completed 11 days at the box office, making a roaring impact. The film has become Sunny Deol’s second highest-grossing movie to date.

Impressive Collections on Second Monday
Border 2 recreates the magic of its predecessor while introducing a fresh cast alongside Sunny Deol, the only returning actor from the original 1997 film. The excitement around the film was evident when it raked in ₹54.5 crore on its first Sunday, outperforming even Dhurandhar.

The film’s storyline is set during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, unfolding across three battlefronts—land, air, and sea. Hooshyar Singh (Varun Dhawan) serves in the Army, Nirmaljit Singh (Diljit Dosanjh) is an Air Force pilot, and Mahendra Rawat (Ahan Shetty) commands the Navy. Trained together at the same academy, the trio are close friends and valiant soldiers. Sunny Deol plays their mentor, Fateh Singh, leading his battalion at the border.

The narrative begins by portraying soldiers and their families during brief moments of peace. However, escalating tensions at the border soon disrupt their lives. When the enemy attacks India from three directions, the four soldiers courageously defend the nation.

Box Office Performance
Border 2 opened with an impressive ₹30 crore and saw a record-breaking Sunday collection. Interestingly, its first Monday earned even more than its opening day—a rare feat. Over the following days, collections naturally tapered, but the film’s overall performance remained strong. According to Sacnilk reports, the movie earned ₹5.75 crore on its second Monday, bringing its total net collection to ₹281 crore in just 11 days.

Worldwide Earnings
Globally, Border 2 earned ₹374 crore in its first 10 days, with expectations to cross ₹380 crore by the 11th day. Overseas, the film has earned over ₹45 crore.

Sunny Deol’s Second Biggest Hit
With these numbers, Border 2 has become Sunny Deol’s second highest-grossing film after Gadar 2, which amassed ₹525.7 crore lifetime collections. Remarkably, in just 11 days, Border 2 has already earned more than half of Baahubali’s total India net collection of ₹421 crore.
