The recent release of the song ‘Sandeshe Aate Hain’ from the highly anticipated sequel ‘Border 2’ has triggered a wave of social media memes targeting Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan. Critics online have claimed that Varun’s performance in the song is reminiscent of his earlier roles in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2, suggesting he has not broken free from these character types.
Producer Nidhi Dutta Responds to Trolls
Amidst the growing criticism, film producer Nidhi Dutta came forward to defend Varun Dhawan. She called out social media users mocking the actor, describing them as “anti-national.” In a repost on X (formerly Twitter), Nidhi wrote:
“Congratulations to all those anti-national people who can pay to bring down an actor portraying a representative of this country. This is your film, India! We hope the audience identifies these individuals and holds them accountable.”
The producer’s statement came in response to reports that certain influencers were allegedly offered money to create negative publicity around the film and Varun Dhawan’s performance. Some influencers even shared screenshots of the offers, confirming attempts to damage the film’s reputation.
Varun Dhawan Responds with Grace
Earlier, Varun himself addressed social media criticism with calm and wit. Responding to a fan’s query about ongoing scrutiny of his acting, he wrote: “This very question has made the song a hit. Everyone is enjoying it, thanks to God’s grace.”
Precaution in Promotions
To minimize potential negative impact, actor Diljit Dosanjh has reportedly been kept away from the film’s promotional activities due to prior controversies surrounding Pakistani actress Hania Amir.
