Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Border 2 has received its certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts. Slated for release on January 23, the film’s advance bookings have already begun, raking in ₹3.34 crore in just two days.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is a sequel to the 1997 war drama Border and is set during the India-Pakistan war of 1971. The film stars Sunny Deol as Lieutenant Colonel Fateh Singh Kaler of the 6th Sikh Regiment, alongside Varun Dhawan as Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, Diljit Dosanjh as Flying General Officer Nirmal Jeet Singh Sekhon, and Ahan Shetty as Lieutenant Commander M.S. Rawat.
The CBFC has granted the film a U/A (13+) certificate, marking it ready for theatrical release without requiring any edits. With a runtime of 3 hours and 16 minutes, Border 2 surpasses Dharmendra’s 1964 classic Haqeeqat (3 hours 4 minutes) to become the second-longest war film in Bollywood, behind J.P. Dutta’s LOC: Kargil (4 hours 15 minutes). The original Border (1997) holds the third spot with a runtime of 2 hours 56 minutes.
Advance bookings indicate strong audience anticipation ahead of the release, reflecting excitement for this action-packed war saga featuring a star-studded ensemble cast.
