
The advance booking for the highly anticipated war film Border 2 began on 19 January, and the response has been overwhelming. In the first 24 hours alone, over 53,000 tickets were sold across 7,257 shows, signaling a blockbuster opening. With three more days of pre-sales remaining, the film is already generating massive excitement among fans.
Starring Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, Border 2 is the sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 classic Border. Made on a budget of approximately ₹250 crore, the film has already captivated audiences with its nine songs. Reports indicate that the film will release on over 5,000 screens nationwide on 23 January 2026, creating a nostalgia factor reminiscent of films like Gadar 2. The trailer and songs have further amplified social media buzz.
Advance Booking Collections
According to Sacnik, Border 2 earned a gross of ₹1.69 crore from advance bookings on the first day. Including blocked seats, the total collection rises to ₹4.56 crore. By comparison, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 had earned ₹17.6 crore from advance bookings before release, with 722,821 tickets sold. Analysts predict that Border 2 is likely to surpass these numbers in the coming days.
Cast Fees and Production Details
Reports suggest that Sunny Deol charged ₹50 crore, Varun Dhawan ₹8–10 crore, and Diljit Dosanjh ₹4–5 crore for their roles in the film. The fee for Ahan Shetty has not been disclosed publicly. Other key cast members include Medha Rana, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh. The film is produced by Nidhi Dutta, daughter of JP Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh.
With its star-studded cast, high-octane storyline, and strong pre-sale performance, Border 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2026.
