
Bollywood icon Dharmendra has left us, leaving the film industry and his fans in deep mourning. The legendary actor breathed his last on Monday, November 24, leaving behind a legacy that spans decades. His family bid him a tearful farewell, while stars from across the industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, flocked to the Vile Parle Pawan Hans crematorium to pay their respects.
Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar posted an emotional tribute, while superstar Ajay Devgn also shared heartfelt words remembering Dharmendra.
Dharmendra, fondly remembered as one of Hindi cinema’s most charismatic and enduring actors, passed away at the age of 89. Earlier this month, he had been discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and was under home care, but his condition worsened on Monday morning, prompting an emergency response.
Karan Johar’s Tribute
Karan Johar shared a poignant black-and-white photograph of Dharmendra accompanied by a heartfelt note, writing, “This is the end of an era. A true megastar, a hero of mainstream cinema, incredibly handsome with a mysterious screen presence. He is and will always remain a true legend of Indian cinema. His name will forever shine in the pages of cinematic history.”
He continued, “More than all this, he was a wonderful human being. Everyone in the industry loved him dearly. His heart was full of love and positivity for everyone. His blessings and extraordinary affection cannot be described in words. Today, our industry feels a void that can never be filled. He will always remain the one and only Dharmaji.”
Ajay Devgn Pays Respect
Ajay Devgn wrote, “My heart is broken hearing about Dharmaji. His warmth, generosity, and presence inspired generations of artists. The industry has lost a giant, and we have lost someone who shaped the soul of our cinema. Om Shanti.”
Industry Legends and Fans Gather
The funeral at Vile Parle saw a steady stream of Bollywood stalwarts paying homage. Apart from Karan Johar and Ajay Devgn, the likes of Hema Malini, Esha Deol, Amitabh Bachchan, and Salim Khan, father of Salman Khan and the legendary dialogue writer, attended the cremation. Aamir Khan also came to bid his final farewell. Outside the crematorium, fans gathered in large numbers to catch a last glimpse of their beloved star.
Dharmendra’s passing leaves an irreplaceable gap in Bollywood, but his enduring legacy, both on-screen and off, will continue to inspire generations to come.
