Bollywood singer Arijit Singh recently retired from playback singing, sparking speculation on social media that his decision might have been influenced by his experience with the film ‘Border 2’. Claims circulated online suggesting that Arijit was allegedly coerced into singing the patriotic track ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’, despite not being creatively aligned with the project.
Bhushan Kumar responds
Producer Bhushan Kumar has now addressed the rumors, calling them completely false. In an interview with HT City, Kumar said, “Please ask Arijit Singh over the phone. This is all nonsense.” He firmly rejected the idea that Arijit was forced into recording the song against his will.
Reports of disappointment
Insider reports had claimed that Arijit was reportedly frustrated with working under a major music label, citing creative micromanagement and aggressive commercial decisions as sources of discontent. Reddit users suggested that the alleged tipping point was a forced patriotic song remake, which Arijit was reportedly not creatively aligned with, but was still expected to perform.
Arijit’s retirement from playback singing
Arijit Singh has officially announced his retirement from playback singing, stating that he will no longer take up any new assignments. However, reports suggest he may continue to perform live shows and release independent albums. Meanwhile, filmmaker Anurag Basu has indicated that Arijit is currently busy with the making of his first Hindi film project.
This clarification from Bhushan Kumar seeks to quell the rumors, reaffirming that the singer’s retirement is a personal choice and not the result of any external pressure.
