Bhojpuri singer Nisha Upadhyay made headlines after losing her temper on stage and attempting to hit a show anchor with her sandal during a live event. The incident has sparked debates about growing obscenity and inappropriate behavior towards performers at live Bhojpuri shows.
A video of the incident, reportedly from an event in Saran district, Bihar, shows Nisha visibly furious, removing her sandal and moving aggressively towards the anchor while bystanders and event staff try to calm her down.
According to sources, the anchor allegedly made vulgar and inappropriate comments about Nisha’s performance fee during the show. This provoked the singer to react in anger. Social media users shared the clip on handles like The Bihar, captioning it, “Bhojpuri singer Nisha Upadhyay hit the anchor with a sandal on stage. Allegedly, the anchor was revealing her performance rate. Bhojpuri stage shows are crossing all limits of vulgarity.”
Netizens reacted strongly, condemning the anchor’s remarks and calling for strict action. One user wrote, “No one should make such comments about a woman. Whether it’s Nisha Upadhyay, Pawan Singh, or any other performer, they never appear on stage without agreeing on their fees. The anchor should face strict action immediately.” Others highlighted the broader problem, noting that the Bhojpuri music and film industry continues to struggle with inappropriate behavior and obscene performances despite government restrictions on DJs and public events.
Nisha Upadhyay, hailing from Gaur Basant in Saran, Bihar, is a well-known name in the Bhojpuri music industry. She has earned a strong reputation nationwide with her powerful voice and folk songs, carving out a distinct identity in the regional music scene.
