Before Rohit Shetty, These 5 Celebrities Were Targeted; One Was Shot 16 Times

Late on the night of 31 January, four rounds of gunfire were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, an attack claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Before Shetty, other Bollywood celebrities including Salman Khan, Kapil Sharma, and Disha Patani were also targeted. One celebrity was even shot 16 times in 1997, resulting in his death.

While Bollywood may appear glamorous from afar, the industry has often been marred by scandals, feuds, and threats from gangsters. Over the years, many celebrities have faced the wrath of the underworld, with some surviving attacks while others tragically lost their lives.

4 Rounds Fired Outside Rohit Shetty’s House

On Saturday, 31 January, unknown assailants fired four rounds outside Rohit Shetty’s residence. Shetty was inside the house at the time, and no injuries were reported. Forensic teams and the police quickly reached the scene. Later, the attack was claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who posted on Facebook:

“This small warning is for Rohit Shetty for interfering in our work. If he does not comply, next time the bullets will hit him directly in his bedroom.”

The motive behind the firing is still under investigation.

Three Attacks on Kapil Sharma’s Café

Earlier, comedian-actor Kapil Sharma’s café in Canada was targeted three times in 2025 — in July, August, and October. The attacks were claimed by associates of Lawrence Bishnoi, including Goldy Dhillon and Kulveer Sidhu Nepali.

The first attack was reportedly linked to a controversial remark made by Sharma on his comedy show about Nihang Sikhs. The assailants warned that the situation could escalate if an apology was not issued. Kapil Sharma, however, stood firm, stating that he and his family would not succumb to fear and would stand against violence.

Salman Khan Targeted Multiple Times

Actor Salman Khan has also been targeted multiple times. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s hostility towards Salman reportedly dates back to the blackbuck poaching case, and he received a death threat on 14 April 2025. A year earlier, his Galaxy Apartments was fired upon, leading to the arrest of seven individuals. Since 2023, Salman has been provided Y+ category security, with 11 security personnel including PSOs and commandos always present around him. His apartment balcony has been reinforced with bulletproof measures.

Rakesh Roshan Shot Twice

In 2000, director Rakesh Roshan was targeted by underworld figures while leaving his office on Tilak Road. He was shot in the chest and shoulder, but survived. Roshan later revealed that the attack was linked to extortion demands after the massive success of his film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai. Despite his injuries, he went to the police and lodged a complaint.

Disha Patani’s House Attacked

In 2025, actress Disha Patani was targeted at her residence in Bareilly. The attack was carried out by two men associated with the Rohit Godara and Goldy Barad gang. Investigations revealed the incident was linked to a social media controversy involving a video made by Patani’s sister in response to statements about live-in relationships.

Gulshan Kumar Shot 16 Times

The most infamous case remains that of T-Series owner Gulshan Kumar, who was shot 16 times on 12 August 1997 outside the Jiteshwar Mahadev temple in Mumbai. Kumar had refused to pay a ransom of ₹5 lakh per month, prompting underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim and Abu Salem to order his killing. The shooter, Abdul Rauf, was later arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment.

These incidents highlight the dark side of the glamour industry, showing that fame often comes with serious risks.
