‘Balika Vadhu’ Actress Neha Marda Faces Tough Questions on ₹999 Product in Shark Tank India Season 5

Television actress Neha Marda, known for her role in Balika Vadhu, has returned to the small screen—not as an actress, but as a businesswoman. She appeared on Shark Tank India Season 5 to pitch her personal care product, facing sharp questions from the sharks over its claims and pricing.

From Actress to Entrepreneur
Neha, who took a break from television after the birth of her daughter in 2023, shared in a promo that the product was inspired by her personal experiences post-pregnancy. She explained, “After my pregnancy, I became a little uncomfortable with the changes in my body odor. As an actress, that affected my confidence. Nothing seemed to work to fix it. What started as a personal problem soon turned into a business idea.”

Tough Questions from the Sharks
Despite being a familiar face on Hindi television, Neha faced critical scrutiny from sharks Amit Jain, Namita Thapar, Anupam Mittal, and Aman Gupta. They questioned her product’s early market reach, growth potential, and whether her celebrity status would genuinely help with marketing and sales.

Anupam Mittal challenged the product claims, asking, “What does this fragrance mean? Is it just a gimmick?” Namita Thapar questioned the high price point, noting, “You can get a deodorant for ₹100 or ₹200, but yours is ₹999. Will people in a country like India connect with it?”

Neha Marda’s Television Journey
Neha rose to fame with her role as Gehna in Balika Vadhu. After becoming a mother, she took a break from acting but has previously appeared in shows like Doli Armano Ki, Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti, and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.

With her Shark Tank appearance, Neha Marda is now venturing into entrepreneurship, navigating both the opportunities and challenges of pitching her product in front of investors.
