
James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ has taken theaters by storm immediately after its release, receiving widespread acclaim from audiences. The film, a sequel to ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ released three years ago, has left viewers mesmerized. Some fans were moved to tears, with one calling it “Oscar-worthy” on X (formerly Twitter).
Box Office Expectations and Reviews
The film hit theaters on 19 December and has already generated massive anticipation. Early reports suggest that ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ could earn approximately ₹2,400 crore worldwide on its opening day alone. Fans and critics have described the movie as a masterpiece, praising both its story and visual spectacle.
In India, Sacnilk reports estimate the film could open with around ₹30 crore, compared to the ₹50 crore opening of ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, which ultimately earned ₹500 crore domestically. According to Variety, ‘Avatar 3’ is expected to open with $90–105 million (approx. ₹900 crore) in the United States. In India, it may even surpass the recent hit Dhurandhar, which dominated the box office for the past two weeks.
Global Release and Future of the Franchise
‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ was released in Germany and the Philippines on 17 December, before its India-wide release on 19 December. James Cameron has confirmed that the Avatar universe will continue expanding, with two more sequels scheduled for 2029 and 2031, both currently in development.
With its emotional storytelling, breathtaking visuals, and record-breaking box office potential, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ has already cemented its place as one of the most anticipated films of the year.
