Mumbai, Feb 10: Actress Ashwini Kalsekar, known for her strong performances in television and films, has revealed that she once gave up non-vegetarian food for nearly 7 to 10 years after marrying actor Murli Sharma, who follows a strict vegetarian lifestyle.
In a recent interview with the team of Curly Tales, Ashwini opened up about her personal life and food habits, sharing how her husband’s dietary discipline influenced her lifestyle significantly.
Ashwini, who belongs to a Marathi background, admitted that she was a hardcore non-vegetarian earlier and never enjoyed vegetarian meals. “I never liked vegetarian food. Except potatoes, nothing used to excite me,” she said, adding that she learned cooking from her sister-in-law.
Murli Sharma: ‘I’m a strict vegetarian’
Murli Sharma, during the same conversation, revealed that he is a dedicated vegetarian and avoids several ingredients completely.
“He doesn’t even eat garlic,” Ashwini said, while Murli added with humour that he also avoids items like mushrooms and baby corn, calling them unfamiliar foods that he never developed a taste for.
No Non-Veg Cooking at Home
Ashwini further revealed that although she resumed eating non-vegetarian food later, the couple does not cook it at home due to religious beliefs.
She shared that during the shooting of Golmaal, Murli Sharma once felt pity seeing her craving non-veg food in Goa and encouraged her to eat it outside.
“Our family deity is Balaji, so we don’t cook non-vegetarian food at home. We only eat it outside,” she explained.
