Arijit Singh was born on 25 April 1987 in Murshidabad, West Bengal. His father, Kakkar Singh, was Sikh, and his mother is Aditi Singh. He studied at Shripat Singh College and participated in the reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005, finishing sixth.
Over his career, Arijit has sung around 715 songs in 10 languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Assamese, and Punjabi. He has also composed 28 songs in Hindi and Bengali and lent his voice to stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Kartik Aaryan, winning 122 awards, including 2 National Awards.

Arijit has been married twice. His first marriage was to Fame Gurukul contestant Ruprekha Banerjee in 2013, which ended within a year. In 2014, he married childhood friend Koyal Roy at Tarapith Temple. Koyal, previously divorced, has a daughter from her first marriage, whom Arijit also considers his own.
