Anurag Basu on Arijit Singh’s Plans
Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Basu revealed details about Arijit Singh’s post-retirement pursuits in an interview with BBC. Arijit, one of the most celebrated playback singers in India, recently announced his retirement from playback singing, leaving fans across the world surprised.
Basu shared that while many are shocked by Arijit’s decision, he was not at all surprised. “I have known Arijit for a long time. He is exceptionally talented and wants to do much more in life beyond singing,” he said.
A New Facet of Arijit Singh
According to Basu, Arijit is passionate about filmmaking. During the making of Barfi!, Arijit even requested to work as Basu’s assistant to learn the craft. Besides filmmaking, he wishes to open a school and spend substantial time with children. These plans will showcase a different side of the superstar.
Working on His First Film
Arijit has already started work on his first Hindi feature, a jungle-adventure film starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, currently being shot in Shantiniketan. The story has been co-written by Arijit and his wife Koel Singh.
Arijit Singh’s Retirement Message
In his retirement post, Arijit wrote:
“Hello everyone, Happy New Year! I want to thank all of you for your love and support over the years. I am happy to announce that I will no longer be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist. I am closing this chapter, and it has been an incredible journey.”
With these new ventures, Arijit Singh is poised to explore new creative horizons while continuing to inspire his fans in a different way.
