Mumbai: Bollywood star Anushka Sharma and cricketer Virat Kohli have come under criticism after a video surfaced showing them ignoring a differently-abled fan at the airport. The incident occurred after the couple returned to Mumbai following a visit to meet Saint Premanand Ji Maharaj in Vrindavan.
The Incident:
On 16 December 2025, Anushka and Virat visited Keli Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan, where they sought blessings from Premanand Ji Maharaj. While their spiritual visit appeared serene, controversy erupted at the airport. A differently-abled fan requested to click a photo with the couple. Instead of acknowledging him, Anushka and Virat reportedly walked past without making eye contact, and a bodyguard allegedly pushed the fan aside abruptly.
The video quickly went viral, sparking outrage on social media. Users questioned the purpose of their spiritual trip if such behavior persisted outside the ashram.
Public Reaction:
Social media users criticized the couple’s actions, with one comment reading: “Going on a spiritual trip but treating differently-abled fans badly is unacceptable.” Another user added: “Completely disrespectful behavior. Spirituality and humility should reflect in actions, not just appearances.”
Several users expressed their disappointment, stating: “What’s the point of visiting Premanand Ji if one returns with arrogance? Ignoring a child who only wanted a photo is heartbreaking.” Others emphasized that even a brief acknowledgment, like a simple hello, would have shown respect for the fan’s feelings.
Recent Background:
Anushka and Virat recently returned from London and made their way to the ashram in India. During their visit, the couple sat on their knees in front of Premanand Ji Maharaj, absorbed his teachings, received his blessings, and even wore Tulsi malas around their necks as a mark of spiritual initiation.
While the visit reflected their spiritual side, the airport incident has sparked a larger conversation about celebrity responsibility and public conduct, especially towards differently-abled fans.
