Amitabh Bachchan Reviews ‘Ikkis’: Says Film Left Him Teary-Eyed

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared an emotional review of the upcoming film ‘Ikkis’, starring his grandson Agastya Nanda and paying tribute to the late actor Dharmendra. Writing on his blog after attending the special premiere on Monday night, Big B revealed that the film moved him to tears.

Originally slated for release on 25 December 2025, the film will now hit theaters on 1 January 2026. The biopic, which chronicles Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal’s heroics during the 1971 India-Pakistan war, has already generated immense anticipation.

Amitabh, who attended the premiere to see his grandson on the big screen for the first time, expressed his pride and nostalgia. He recalled the moment he first held Agastya as a newborn and watched him grow, culminating in his decision to pursue acting.

Praising Agastya’s performance, Amitabh wrote: “His maturity, honesty in performance, and presence do justice to the character of Arun Khetarpal—a young soldier who displayed extraordinary bravery at just 21 years of age during the 1971 war. Every shot captures perfection; when he is on screen, you cannot take your eyes off him.”

He added that the film’s writing, direction, and presentation are impeccable, and finishing the film left him overwhelmed with tears of pride and love. “When it ends… your eyes fill up with happiness and pride. You are speechless… in that silence which is mine… my understanding… my love.”

The film is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Shriram Raghavan and also marks the acting debut of Simar Bhatia, niece of actor Akshay Kumar. The cast includes Jaideep Ahlawat and features a posthumous appearance by Dharmendra.

‘Ikkis’ is one of the most awaited films of 2026, and audiences are eager to witness Agastya Nanda’s debut on the 70mm big screen.
