Mumbai: Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan recently halted shooting for ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 17’ (KBC 17) after a medical emergency involving a contestant’s husband. The 83-year-old megastar, known for his dedication, said that continuing the game under such circumstances would be inappropriate. To make up for the delay, he agreed to shoot three episodes in a single day, stating he is willing to put in extra work if required.
On the day of the incident, Amitabh, who normally works from 8 AM to midnight for the show, stopped the first episode as soon as the contestant reached the hot seat after learning that her husband was unwell. The husband was present on set with his wife. Amitabh felt it would be morally wrong to continue the game while she was distressed, as it could affect her focus.
He later informed the production team that he would reschedule the remaining episodes to accommodate the contestant’s situation. In his blog posted on 16 December at 4:41 PM, Amitabh wrote, “I told the production team that I would shoot on another day if necessary. Even if it means doing three episodes in a day instead of two, I am ready to take the extra work.”
Amitabh’s Long-standing KBC Journey:
Since its launch in 2000, Amitabh Bachchan has been the face of KBC, except for the third season in 2007 when Shah Rukh Khan hosted due to Amitabh’s health issues. That season saw a dip in ratings, and Amitabh returned from the fourth season onwards, maintaining his iconic presence on the show.
Upcoming Projects:
Besides KBC 17, Amitabh is currently busy with Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayan’, and discussions are ongoing for his involvement in ‘Kalki 2’.
