Amitabh Bachchan Mobbed in Surat as Fans Go Overboard, Glass of Bungalow Shattered

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan faced a frightening ordeal when he was mobbed by an unruly crowd during his visit to Surat for the inauguration of the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) 2026. Fans, desperate for a glimpse of the superstar, went overboard, even shattering the glass of a local businessman’s bungalow while surrounding Big B.

Chaotic Scenes Unfold

The ISPL’s third season began on January 9, and the next day Amitabh arrived in Surat for the event. As he moved from the airport to a businessman’s residence, a massive crowd gathered, creating a dangerous situation. Videos circulating on social media show Amitabh trying to make his way through the throng, with police struggling to clear a path amidst the push and shove. The chaotic scene left many users expressing outrage at the reckless behavior of fans.

Public Concern for the Superstar

Social media users were quick to condemn the crowd’s actions. Comments included:

  • “Please leave him alone. He’s 83 years old.”
  • “Why are you chasing him? He’s an actor, but he’s also a human being.”
  • “Don’t do this. It’s frightening.”
  • “Mobbing an elderly person is unacceptable. Let him be, and take pictures from a distance.”

Not an Isolated Incident

Such incidents have happened with other celebrities as well. Virat Kohli faced a similar situation at Vadodara Stadium in Gujarat, where security struggled to escort him to his car. In December 2025, actress Nidhi Agerwal was trapped by a large crowd at a Hyderabad mall, prompting legal action against organizers for violating safety protocols. Actor Allu Arjun and his wife Sneha Reddy were also mobbed by fans while leaving a Hyderabad café.

Amitabh Bachchan’s experience in Surat underscores the risks celebrities face from overzealous fans, emphasizing the need for better crowd management and strict adherence to security measures to ensure their safety.
