In a surprising turn of events, Akshaye Khanna reportedly quit the highly anticipated film ‘Drishyam 3’ just one day before the release of his film ‘Dhurandhar’. The revelation was made by the film’s producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, who expressed shock at the sudden decision.
Producer Speaks Out
In an interview with eTimes, Kumar Mangat Pathak shared that Akshaye Khanna sent a message indicating he was leaving the project, and did not respond to subsequent calls or messages. “I was deeply shocked because Akshaye was initially very excited about the film after hearing the script,” Pathak said. The producer added that despite multiple discussions and the actor receiving an advance, Khanna chose to back out, leaving the team in a difficult position.
Akshaye’s Prediction and Initial Excitement
According to the producer, when the script of ‘Drishyam 3’ was narrated to Khanna, he embraced the director and confidently predicted the film would cross ₹500 crore at the box office. After negotiations, the actor’s fees were finalized, and an advance payment was made. Yet, in the final moments, Khanna withdrew from the project, shocking the filmmakers.
Message Sent Before Shooting
The producer revealed that Khanna sent the message two weeks before shooting was scheduled to begin, stating his decision to exit. Despite multiple attempts to contact him afterward, he did not respond. Pathak expressed disappointment at the lack of courtesy in how the actor handled the situation.
Replacement by Jaideep Ahlawat
Following Khanna’s exit, Jaideep Ahlawat has been cast to play the role of IG Tarun Ahlawat. The producer praised Jaideep, saying he is not only a better actor for the role but also a wonderful person. Pathak also mentioned that a legal notice was sent to Akshaye Khanna, which has yet to receive a response.
This sudden development has stirred discussions across social media and the film industry, raising questions about last-minute exits and actor commitments.
