Following recent threats to Ranveer Singh, now a close relative of Salman Khan has also reportedly received a threat, demanding crores of rupees, prompting police to remain on high alert.

Rising Threats from Underworld-Linked Gangs

The 1990s saw the underworld, led by notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his D-Company, exercise significant influence over Bollywood. Extortion, threats, and illegal money transactions became an unwelcome part of the industry. Now, a similar pattern appears to be resurfacing, targeting film stars and their families. Recent incidents include firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence and threats to Ranveer Singh via WhatsApp. The latest involves Salman Khan’s close relative, who has been threatened for ransom money in crores.

Threat Issued via Email, Allegedly Linked to Lawrence Bishnoi Gang

According to police sources, the relative received a threatening email from an individual claiming to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message demanded crores of rupees and threatened serious harm if the money was not paid. Mumbai police have launched a full-scale investigation and are monitoring the situation closely.

Security Measures and Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have stated that the threat was received via email and no official complaint has yet been filed by Salman Khan or his relative. Police sources reveal that suspects linked to the Bishnoi gang have had their mobile locations traced near the residences of several Bollywood celebrities, suggesting reconnaissance activities. The Mumbai Crime Branch is actively gathering evidence and pursuing all leads.

Pattern of Extortion-Focused Threats

This incident follows closely on the heels of firing outside Rohit Shetty’s home and recent threats to Ranveer Singh, highlighting a resurgence of extortion attempts in the film industry. The police believe these threats are primarily aimed at financial gain.

Previous Threats to Bollywood Celebrities

Earlier, Ranveer Singh reportedly received a voice note threat via WhatsApp, prompting increased security around his residence. Similarly, in 2024, firing occurred at Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence around 5 a.m. on Eid morning. Two attackers on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds, and the attack was claimed by Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Other incidents include attacks on singer AP Dhillon’s Canada residence and Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Canada, highlighting the gang’s widespread intimidation tactics.

The police continue to investigate all incidents and have intensified security measures for celebrities and their families across Mumbai.
