Mumbai, February 14, 2026:After announcing his retirement from Bollywood playback singing, Arijit Singh has taken his first step into independent music with a devotional track dedicated to Lord Shiva. Released quietly on YouTube without any promotion, the song ‘Oh Shiv Mere’ has already crossed 1.76 lakh views, captivating listeners with Arijit’s soulful voice.
Despite millions of followers across social media, the singer chose to keep the release low-key, letting the music speak for itself. The track, penned by lyricist Kumar, showcases Arijit Singh’s spiritual side, marking a significant shift from his Bollywood repertoire to devotional music.
The composition is produced by Mandeep Panghal, with guitar by Shomu Seal and Swastik Shubham, and features chorus vocals by Piyush Ranjan, Sakshi Holkar, Sonam Pathak, and Mandeep Panghal himself, adding depth to the song’s meditative feel.
Arijit Singh had announced his retirement on January 27, stating on Instagram, “After so many years of your love and support, I am happy to announce that I will no longer take on new projects as a playback singer. I bid farewell to this profession—it has been a wonderful journey.”
Though he did not disclose the exact reason behind stepping away from Bollywood, rumors suggest industry politics may have played a role. With ‘Oh Shiv Mere’, Arijit embarks on a new musical path, and the overwhelming fan response indicates that listeners are embracing his devotional journey wholeheartedly.
