Television actor Anuj Sachdeva recently opened up about a terrifying incident in Mumbai, where he was attacked and threatened. According to Anuj, the incident was a murder attempt, and there were even attempts to tamper with the FIR. The accused reportedly warned him that 2026 would be his last year.
The Incident
Anuj Sachdeva had posted a shocking video on social media last month showing a man attacking him with a stick. Speaking candidly on Chhavi Hussain’s podcast, Anuj revealed the details.
He said, “On 14 December 2025, I went out at night with a friend to walk my dog. While walking, I noticed a car parked on the roadside and thought I’d click a picture to share in my group. Suddenly, a man approached me and lunged at me.”
His Dog Tried to Protect Him
Anuj added, “When the man started shouting at me, my dog naturally stepped forward to protect me. The attacker then began hitting my dog. Anyone alone might retaliate, but when accompanied by a dog or a friend, your instinct is to protect them first. In the video I shared, you can hear my friend calling the watchman for help.”
A Murder Attempt
On the podcast, Anuj emphasized the seriousness of the attack: “In court, intent matters. If someone tries to hit your head, it is an attempt on your life. This was a murder attempt. Afterwards, I went to the police station to file a complaint. While at the station, another officer tried to tamper with my FIR. The attacker even threatened me there, saying 2026 would be my last year. I had high hopes from the Mumbai Police, but this was disheartening.”
Raising Questions About Safety
Sharing the video online, Anuj wrote: “If even a small issue, like a wrongly parked car in your society, can put your life at risk, are we truly safe? Is it right to fight back, or is it better to endure? Should we always live in fear that someone may become violent or aggressive, even when we speak our mind? These are the questions that arise from this violent incident I faced.”
This incident has sparked wider discussions about public safety and the challenges faced by citizens in urban spaces.
