Canada Work Permit: Canada urgently needs foreign workers for several job roles. In certain sectors, workers can get a fast-tracked work permit, allowing them to enter the country quickly.
To work in Canada, foreign nationals require a work permit, which is mandatory before they can take up employment in the country. Currently, Indian workers often have to wait more than two months to obtain a permit. This means that even after securing a job with a Canadian company, they cannot travel immediately. However, for certain essential services, work permits are issued on an expedited basis.
Healthcare and Agriculture: High Demand Sectors
Healthcare and agriculture are two critical sectors where Canada faces a significant shortage of foreign workers. Both sectors are essential for the country’s economy. In total, there are 29 jobs for which work permits are processed quickly. This expedited processing is available only to specific types of eligible workers, including those applying under LMIA-based work permits, Francophone Mobility work permits, and International Experience Canada (IEC) work permits.

How Workers Can Get a Fast-Track Permit
There is no separate application required to get a fast-tracked work permit. Approval speed depends on how you apply. When applying, workers must enter the correct NOC code in the work permit application, as provided in the job offer or LMIA. In the “Details of Intended Work in Canada” section (Box 4), the NOC code must match the job description and responsibilities.
If your job is in the healthcare or agriculture sector and your NOC code matches your job offer, your work permit application is eligible for expedited processing.
