Good news for lakhs of candidates preparing for government teaching jobs in Uttar Pradesh: the UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has released the 2026 recruitment exam calendar, which includes the much-awaited UPTET exam after a gap of four years. The commission has also announced the dates for TGT, PGT, and Assistant Professor recruitment exams.
UPTET 2026 Exam Dates
The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 will be conducted in July 2026, spanning three days: 2nd, 3rd, and 4th July.
UPTET 2026 Application Dates
The online application process is expected to begin in the third or fourth week of April 2026, as the commission typically opens applications about two months before the exam. Candidates should keep an eye on official notifications for exact dates.
Why UPTET Was Not Held for 4 Years
The last UPTET was conducted on 23 January 2022. The 2025 exam was postponed multiple times due to various administrative reasons, including the formation of a new exam board. Earlier, the UP Basic Education Board (UPBEB) conducted the exam, but now the UPESSC will oversee teacher recruitment and eligibility tests, ensuring timely and transparent execution.
Assistant Professor Exam 2026
The Assistant Professor recruitment exam will now be held on 18th and 19th April 2026. Earlier, the exam scheduled on 7 January under Advertisement No. 51 was canceled due to irregularities. Over 82,000 candidates had applied for this recruitment, which will fill a total of 910 posts.
TGT-PGT Recruitment Exams 2026
- PGT Exam: 9th and 10th May 2026
- TGT Exam: 3rd and 4th June 2026
The commission has assured that all exams will be conducted with strict security, transparency, and integrity, including CCTV monitoring, jammer systems, and other safety measures at exam centers.

Admit cards for all exams will be issued on the official UPESSC website in advance. Candidates are advised to regularly check the website for updates and official notifications related to these recruitments.
