New Delhi: Candidates waiting for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 notification will have to wait longer. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has clarified that it will not release the CSE 2026 notification today, January 14, 2026, contrary to what was mentioned in its earlier calendar.
UPSC has issued a new official notice on its website stating that the notification for Civil Services Examination 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination 2026 has been postponed due to administrative reasons. Aspirants can check this notice on the official website upsc.gov.in.
What Did UPSC Say?
In its earlier examination calendar, UPSC had scheduled the release of the CSE and IFS 2026 notifications for January 14, 2026. However, the latest notice states:
“The notification for the Civil Services Examination, 2026 and Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026, which was scheduled to be issued on 14.01.2026, has been postponed due to administrative reasons and will be issued at an appropriate time.”
No revised date has been announced so far.
When Is the Notification Expected Now?
Although UPSC has not mentioned a new timeline, it is likely that the notification may be released next month. If this happens, the schedule of the UPSC Preliminary Examination 2026 is also expected to change. The prelims, which are usually held in May, may now be pushed by about a month.
Aspirants are advised to continue their preparation without interruption and regularly monitor the official website for updates.
UPSC CSE Preliminary Examination Pattern
The Civil Services Preliminary Examination consists of two objective-type papers:
- Paper I (General Studies): 200 marks
- Paper II (CSAT): 200 marks
Each paper is of two hours duration. Paper II is qualifying in nature, requiring a minimum of 33% marks. Question papers are available in both Hindi and English.
Candidates who clear the prelims become eligible to appear for the Main Examination, followed by the Personality Test (Interview).
What Aspirants Should Do
With uncertainty around the notification date, experts suggest focusing on prelims preparation, revising core subjects, and practicing mock tests. All official updates regarding the notification, application process, and revised exam dates will be announced only on the UPSC website.
