Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has announced a significant increase in the PCS 2025 vacancies, offering a major relief to candidates awaiting their preliminary exam results. The total number of posts has more than quadrupled, rising from the initially announced 200 to over 900.
The PCS 2025 Preliminary Examination, held on 12 October, saw participation from more than six lakh candidates. Originally, the commission had invited applications for 200 vacancies. However, following requests from various government departments for filling additional positions, UPPSC has now increased the total number of posts to 920.
This expansion comes even before the declaration of the prelims results, similar to the recruitment pattern followed in the 2024 PCS batch, where new vacancies were added prior to the preliminary results. The increase in vacancies is expected to have a direct impact on the prelims cutoff, potentially allowing more candidates to qualify for the Main Examination.
Candidates qualifying in the prelims will move on to the Main Examination, vying for positions such as District Administrative Officer, Labour Enforcement Officer, Food Safety Officer, Assistant Director/Senior Public Relations Officer, Sub-Registrar, District Health Education & Information Officer, Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Registrar, District Sports Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Assistant Research Officer, Assistant Prosecution Officer (Transport), and several other officer-level roles.
The UPPSC PCS 2025 results are expected to be announced in December 2025 on the official website uppsc.up.nic.in.
With this surge in vacancies, candidates now have increased opportunities to secure government positions in the state, making this an encouraging development ahead of the results.
